2 Samuel 18 (October 12)

                                                                     Great Value

But you are worth ten thousand of us…”

A gemologist knows the value of every precious stone.

An archeologist knows the worth of hidden treasure.

A philologist is acquainted with the value and power of words.

A Christian knows the incomparable value of Christ.

God knows the extraordinary value of his children.

Christians have infinite worth before the Lord. If our souls were of great value prior to our conversion, how much more so now that we are being regenerated, justified and sanctified by Christ?

Yes, my dear brother or sister in Christ. You are valuable and special to God, but before it goes to your head, you must know that our great value resides in our close connection to Christ. Jesus lives in our hearts and his divine presence imparts worth, dignity and purpose to our lives.

The Bible attests to this when it says that we, “…are a chosen nation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people…” (I Peter 2:9).

We are children of the King and one day we shall reign with Christ forever. There is no need to pay attention to the world’s rejection if we know our God loves and values us.

Next time when you feel down, remember that you are a child of God (if you have received Christ as your Lord and Savior, of course), and that even though you might be poor and ignored by the world, you are a child of the richest King and the Lord of all.
