The Lord’s Great Work
“I am doing great work…”
This month of February should be called “the month of construction.” During this month we have talked several times about the work of God in us and within us. God’s work in our lives started prior to our conversion and I would even say before our birth. In fact, Ephesians 1:4 declares that,
“…He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love…”
Today with your permission (and your patience), I would like to discuss this theme from another point of view. Working for God in any capacity is not only a great responsibility, but a glorious privilege.
The work of God is great, not only in dimension, but also in significance. Any task that we do in the name of Christ or in the name of God is a great work. In Christ we are all ministers of the Gospel and we must serve or work for Him in one capacity or another. We are his ambassadors and slaves and there is much work to be done.
It does not matter if your audience or consists of five or five thousand people. If it is from God, it is great work. Be faithful today, and tomorrow God will give you more; or as the Bible puts it:
“Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much…” (Luke16:10).
Treasure this thought in your heart, so you might not feel insignificant. Ask the Lord also to extract any pride from you, because even if the work is great; the glory does not belong to you—It is God’s now and forever.
