Angry People
“…when the anger of King Ahasuerus had abated”
Gods’ anger is holy; the anger in men is almost always a sin.
God’s wrath is just, but man’s ire evil.
God forgives, forgets and restores repentant offenders. Man, on the other hand, rarely forgives and almost never forgets.
He, who acts while being dominated by anger, is destroying himself and others around him. A father, who punishes his children while being controlled by anger, will not discipline them; on the contrary, he will abuse them. A mother that is annoyed will scream and offend, instead of teaching and speaking to her children.
Paul said:
“Be angry but do not sin…” (Ephesians 4:27).
This tells us that even when we have a reason to be angry, we can still sin if we allow anger to control us; or if we permit it to extend for more than a reasonable time. This verse continues:
“…do not let the sun go down on your anger…”
How long should anger last?
It should not extend to the next day, or preferably to the next hour. Any conflict should be resolved and forgiven on the same day. But if we can live without anger it would be much better.
