2 Chronicles 9 (January 9)

                                                                   Happy Blessing

            “Happy are your people”

The men who served in King Solomon’s court were very blessed indeed.  They enjoyed countless benefits, such as a good job, good salary, delicious meals and excellent working conditions.

Their garments were top quality, and the power and prestige of those officials were envied by all.  But the greatest blessing was that they had the opportunity to hear Solomon’s wisdom each and every day.  Those who served closer to the throne were even more privileged to hear every word that came from the mouth of the king.

We are servants of King Jesus and therefore we are even more blessed.  Maybe we don’t all enjoy the same material benefits as King Solomon’s servants, but in Christ we are more than blessed.

The wisdom that Solomon possessed was a gift he received from the Lord. Only God is the giver of true wisdom.  That wisdom is available to any Christian who asks for it and God has promised in the Bible that,

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

The more we get to know the Lord, and the closer we draw to Him, the more blessed we will be.  There is no greater blessing than communion with God.  We are his children and our delight and joy is living with Him.

If you are not happy with our loving, merciful, patient, benevolent and forgiving God, you will never be happy…never!
