2 Chronicles 6 (January 6)

                                                                  X-Ray Vision

“May your eyes be open day and night.”

When I was a boy, I used to love reading all the adventures of superman.  He was the “man of steel” who could fly and do things that no human would even dare try.  One of the abilities of this “super-man” was his x-ray vision, with which he could see right through walls or any other object.

Now, I know, of course that superman is just an invention of someone’s imagination. I still watch some of those “super heroes” movies from time to time, knowing is just a fantasy and an illusion made possible by Hollywood. On the other hand, I know that there is a God, a one true God, who is able to do all things, whether possible or impossible.

Sorry superman, but compared to my God you are just a little ant!

When Solomon prayed at the dedication of the temple, he pleaded that the Lord would hear and see the prayers of his servants.  The eyes of the Lord never close because he doesn’t sleep.

He sees our prayer, because his eyes penetrate our hearts, mind, and spirit.  He not only hears what we ask for, but he sees the motives of our hearts.  The eyes of the Lord see our afflicted hearts and the silent prayers that no one else knows; even the things that we have forgotten or ignore…God hears and sees.

What a misery and comfort is to know that God knows and sees everything! It is a misery when we sin or attempt to do so, knowing that He knows…that He sees. We feel miserable and lonely because we have sinned in His presence. It is also a comfort when we walk in his ways, and when we plead for his help in times of trouble. Remember: He sees you.
