Psalms 31, 32    (May 2)

                                         The Best Refuge

“Into your hands I commit my spirit;”

The child was trembling and crying, while his father was shouting at him, “Jump!” But still the child was indecisive.

            “Jump!”

The father shouted once again, extending his arms at his son.

When the child saw the arms of his loving father open wide, he jumped from the third story of a building that was covered in flames; and fell safely into the arms of his father that was waiting to catch him— My dear brothers and sisters this was faith in action.

Speaking of faith, I would like to add that without faith it would be impossible for us to live in this world full of traitors. The Bible says: “The one who is righteous will live by faith” (Romans 1:17).

How necessary it is for us to have faith, to be able to resist the multiple temptations and attacks we face on a day-to-day basis from the enemy. Even to drive an automobile in a city like Miami, we need to commend ourselves in the hands of our Lord.

Let us be like that child that risked his life (to save it), knowing that the extended arms of his loving father would be there to catch him.   The hands of our loving Father are our refuge and eternal security. No one can tear us from his strong and powerful hands. Glory to God!

Lord, I commend myself into your hands of love. I will live the rest of my life, trusting that my life is in your hands. In your hands there is security and comfort for me. In your hands I can hide from the cares of this world. My hands are feeble and my power is weak, but I know that in you, I have everything I need now and forevermore.
