Job 18     (March 26)

                                            Dangerous Paths

“…and they walk into a pitfall.”

The path of a Christian is narrow and full of dangers and trials. We walk, as the Bible says,

“…through the valley of the shadow of death…” (Psalm 23:4).

We will not be afraid, however, because the Good Shepherd is with us, leading to the “green pastures and still waters” (v. 2) of salvation in Christ. One day, at the end of this road, we “will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.” (v. 6)

The path of the world is wide and filled with pleasures. The great majority of the population of this world journeys through this wide and “pleasant” path, and seemingly they enjoy life in the “fast lane.”

At first glance, the wide path seems to be the better choice, isn’t that right? This path is much easier than the other and many walk this way including some of our friends and family members.

But do not allow false pretenses to deceive you. Each person that walks through the “gay” (happy) path walks blindly over nets, traps and ways of death. The way might be wide and spacious, but it ends in a precipice that leads to hell.

Each step we take with Christ is another step towards victory. The Christian path is a difficult one, but the end is glorious. Even if sometimes it appears to be a tunnel with no end, we should not lose hope, for there is a light at the end of that tunnel; there is a door that will open and let us walk into Eternity; and there is a Savior at hand that will walk with us through that path forever.
